LORDE

Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, known by her stage name Lorde, is a New Zealand singer and songwriter. Born in Takapuna and raised in Devonport, Auckland, she became interested in performing as a child. In her early teens, she signed with Universal Music Group and was later paired with the songwriter and record producer Joel Little, who co-wrote and produced most of Lorde's works. In September 2013, Lorde released her debut studio album, Pure Heroine. The album topped the charts of New Zealand and Australia and reached the top five of several national charts, including Canada, Ireland, Norway and the United Kingdom.

Lords first album, 'Pure Heroine' had a simple cover, similar to Beyonce's most previous album, this cover although very simple, is effective because it is bold and stands out for its simplicity as most album covers use images and wild fonts. The use of white against black makes the name and title stand out and also the use of only monotone colours links in with Lordes monotone voice at the beginning of her songs.  Her most recent album 'Melodrama' is opposite to the 'Pure Heroine' album as the cover is a bright colourful painting of the artist. This all stands out and is eye catching but for the opposite reasons to the first. The style of painting is not hyper realistic which is uncommon on album covers as usually camera pictures are used. The makes it unique along with the variety of colours used.

Lorde's style is a significant part of her self-brand. Lorde is known for her very unique dark sense of fashion. She often wears large black dresses and clothes which are very covering, she never wears anything too revealing. Most of the time she is trying something new which hasn't been seen before but always sticks to her signature black style. Her clothing links a lot to the genre of her music which strong.
